Patch varistor

The patch varistor is a kind of resistor device with non-linear volt-ampere characteristics. It is mainly used to clamp the voltage when the circuit withstands overvoltage and absorb excess current to protect the sensitive device. The English name is "Voltage Dependent Resistor" abbreviated as "VDR", or "Varistor". The resistor material of varistor is semiconductor, so it is a kind of semiconductor resistor. Zinc oxide varistors (ZnO) are widely used nowadays. Their main materials are composed of divalent element zinc (Zn) and hexavalent element oxygen (O). So from the material point of view, zinc oxide varistor is a kind of "II-VI oxide semiconductor". In Taiwan, China, varistors are called "shock absorbers" and sometimes "shock (surge) suppressors".

1. Scope of application of chip varistors:

· Protective components and circuits to prevent ESD generation in power supply, control and signal lines

· Provide on-line overvoltage protection for ICCMOS and MOSFET.

· Surface mounted TVS zener diodes can be replaced in many fields

· Used to assist various terminal products to achieve electromagnetic compatibilit

2. Specific applications of patch varistors:

· Laptop computers, digital cameras, handheld computers, mobile phones, MP3, motherboard, routers, automotive electronics, LCD modules, network telephones, microphone headphones, etc.
